India towards 5 trillion economy: but non-communicable diseases are a big obstacle!

Hello folks! This is my first post on this blog. The motive behind creating this blog is to create awareness among people that our ancient wisdom on food was the most scientific and sustainable. The ancient Indian dietary habits, food combinations, recipes, and ingredients are nowadays losing their significance in the light of westernization and fast-paced so called busy lives. The results of heedless eating resulting a looming epidemic of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). The data on the rise of NCDs is shocking and hard to believe as well. Non-communicable disease (NCD) burden is rapidly displacing communicable disease burden in India, including TB, HIV, water-borne or vector-borne diseases. Over 60% of fatalities are thought to be caused by non-communicable conditions such as diabetes, cancer, chronic respiratory illnesses, and cardiovascular diseases.  Losses brought on by avoidable fatalities from diabetes, heart disease, and stroke are also anticipated to increase over time. Therefore, interventions are needed to address the problem, and opting healthy diet has been proven to be the most effective intervention in preventing the occurrence of NCDs as well as reversing the disease. Here, I re-emphasize that by dietary interventions I mean following the ancient/traditional diets which our ancestors used to include in their meals. The food in Indian traditions was considered as God, the first God, signifying that if you wish to have good health and longevity, you need to worship your God i.e. food, and be respectful towards what you are eating. Also, you must have heard an old proverb from your elders that "जैसा अन्न वैसा मन" meaning that food not only affects the body but it also has an impact on our thought process, our brain, and our emotions. Surprisingly and ironically the other so-called developed nations are conducting studies on these already established phenomena available since ages with  India and presenting to the world as their invented contributions to the world. I feel disturbed and restless and a question arises in my mind why can't we recapture and restore our rich heritage.  Ancient Indian wisdom on food and diet needs to be re-explored, re-emphasized, and restored. Therefore, through this blog, I will try to rediscover the Indian traditional recipes, ingredients, and food habits that may help in reducing the burden of NCDs in our country. Need your support and blessings in this journey......
With love !
